Foreign language effect (FLE) refers to the phenomenon that people give different answers using different languages (Shin & Kim 2017). And this has been proven by a lot of recent researches (i.e., Caldwell-Harris 2014; Costa et al. 2014; Gepel et al. 2015; Shin & Kim 2017). Existing researches focusing on FLE, mostly compare the European languages (i.e. alphabet language) which itself and in which the culture contained are quite different from Chinese, so it is still unknown whether this foreign effect appear steadily in European languages will still appear when compared with Chinese as the native language and English as the foreign language, whether this FLE is stronger or not, and why it appears. Two experiments get designed. The first one: every participants are offered four moral dilemma (adopted from Greene et al, 2008) in either Chinese or English and make decisions whether it is moral or not and whether to save. The second one: the same group of people judge whether the geometric shapes in screen match with the word underlying under in order to see the personal distance in a foreign language and whether this personal distance will affect the FLE or not.
