Abstract: The Core task of vocational education is to cultivate learners’ comprehensive professional ability. Therefore, establish an effective vocational ability assessment model if of vital importance for educational quality assessment, the revision of training programs and international vocational educational comparison. COMET model proposed and practiced in Germany has been widely applied to the evaluation of vocational education quality in science and engineering majors in China due to its advanced nature and operability. Based on this model, this study develops an open and comprehensive test and background questionnaire to conduct profession ability assessment and questionnaire for 300 students of business English majors in three colleges of Guangdong Province. The study finds out that the subject’s professional ability is at a medium level and items such as cross-cultural adaptability, sustainability and creativity reflecting the overall design ability still need to be improved. Furthermore, the regression analysis shows that factors such as school category, internships, cross-border e-commerce course, the use of foreign trade teaching software, English proficiency and students’ professional commitment all have a significant positive impact on students’ professional ability.
