The insulation performance of the basin-type insulator in the gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS) is determined by the performance of the epoxy resin/Al2O3 composite material. As the power transmission proceeds to the direction of high voltage and large capacity, the insulation properties of epoxy composites are difficult to meet the progressively higher electrical performance requirements. In order to improve the thermal and electrical properties of epoxy composites for basin-type insulator, bisphenol A epoxy resin (DGEBP A) was modified with hexafluorobisphenol A (BPAF) to obtain BPAF/DGEBP A epoxy resin. By preparing BPAF/ DGEBP A and DGEBP A epoxy composites,the glass transition temperature and breakdown strength of epoxy composites before and after BPAF modification were tested and compared. The test results show that BPAF/DEGBP A epoxy resin increases the glass transition temperature and breakdown strength of epoxy composites, which is related to the F element contained in BPAF/DEGBP A epoxy resin.
