Evaluation of Surface Flashover Characteristics for Basin-type Insulator Based on Fractal Theory

This paper focused on the DC flashover development characteristics of basin-type insulator with image analysis method. Conducting particles were attached at different locations on surface of the insulator. Fractal theory was applied to analyze the tracks conducted by multiple flashover and captured by a HD camera. Results show that the tracks covering the region from particle to ground electrode centralized and corresponding fractal dimension (FD) decreased with moving particle to ground electrode while flashover voltage performed increasing tendency.
