Versatile Cobalt Catalyst in Biomass Derived Platform Molecules Conversion
摘要录用
Cobalt is an earth-abundant transition metal and demonstrates moderate hydrogenation performance and high efficiency for the cleavage of C-O bond, which can be employed to replace noble metal for the selective conversion of biomass derived platform molecules. For example, we prepared magnetic nitrogen-doped carbon supported cobalt nitride catalysts (CoNx@NC) simply by copyrolysis of cellulose and cobalt nitrate under ammonia atmosphere. The optimized CoNx@NC-650 (pyrolyzed at 650 °C) exhibited the best HDO activity for eugenol conversion among a series of Co-based catalysts. The yield of propylcyclohexanol from eugenol was >99.9% under 2 MPa H2 at 200 °C for 2 h. A high yield of propylcyclohexane (99.1%) could be achieved when the solid acid HZSM-5 was added to the reaction system. Moreover, when a second metal was incorporated with Co with similar preparation method, 88.3% yield of propylphenol can be obtained. Another example is that when cobalt was supported on hydroxyapatite (HAP) and modified by some metal oxide, it exhibited high hydrogenolysis activity, directly-converting furfural into 70.1% yield of 1,5-pentanediol (1,5-PeD) and 7.8% yield of 1,2-pentanediol (1,2-PeD) at 150 °C, 3 MPa H2, 4 h and ethanol as solvent). Based on the mechanism investigation, the catalyst demonstrated a high selectivity to cleave the Caryl–OR bond under mild conditions.
