Effect of transition dipole on high order harmonic generation in solids

Interaction of intense lasers with solid materials offers an alternative way to achieve high-order harmonic generation (HHG) [1]. Based on solving extended semiconductor Bloch equations, we theoretically investigated the role of transition dipole on high order harmonic generation in solids and demonstrated both transition dipole amplitude [2] and phase [3] have an effect on the harmonic emission. Besides, we studied the orientation-dependent harmonic spectra and show that band energies of high-lying unoccupied bands and low-lying occupied ones can be extracted from laser polarization dependent high harmonic spectra [4].
