Study and optimization of thermal performance of flat heat pipe collector in high cold region

In this paper, the thermal performance of solar plate heat pipe collector was studied using water as working fluid in a university in Hohhot area. We tested the temperature change of the import and export of heat collector plate for a period of time according to the constant flow, variable flow and local weather conditions and we also analyzed the heat collecting power and heat collecting efficiency using the response surface method. Our result show that the trend of the collection power is increasing when the solar radiation increases whether it is under constant flow or variable flow conditions. However, the trend of the instantaneous collection efficiency is different. The collector efficiency of the constant flow state decreased as the solar radiation increase; The collector efficiency of the variable flow state increase as the solar radiation increase. Finally, we carried out the multi-objective optimization for heat collecting power and heat collecting efficiency using genetic algorithm. Our research show that the solar radiation and working fluid state are the important factors affecting the heat collecting power and heat collecting efficiency of the flat plate heat pipe collector.
