Gas-liquid two-phase flow pattern visualization and mixing uniform time quantification in top-blown gas agitation mixing process

The evaluation of the mixing effect of the gas-liquid two-phase flow during the top-blown gas agitation mixing is one of the difficulties in the testing field, especially in the process of using the physical model to study the metallurgical top-blowing process. In order to evaluate the effect of gas-liquid two-phase flow mixing, a flow pattern visualization and hybrid feature extraction method for gas-liquid mixing process based on electrical capacitance tomography was proposed. A gas top-blown stirring test device is set up, air is used as the gas phase, and synthetic heat transfer fluid is selected as the liquid phase. The top-blown stirring test process is measured and imaged by ECT Instruments Ltd's electrical capacitance tomography equipment, and the change of conductivity is recorded. The images are processed by the “box-counting fractal dimension-corrosion method” to obtain a uniform time of gas-liquid mixing;the MAILAB program is used to identify the mixed area of the image to obtain the proportion of the gas-liquid mixed area.The results show that the earliest mixing time obtained by the three methods is quite consistent. It is feasible to use the capacitance tomography technique to visualize the flow pattern and quantify the mixing effect.
