Effect of Evaporative Cooling Process on Dust Removal of Fine Dust in Converter Flue Gas

Aiming at the problems of large amount of dust, relatively low dust removal efficiency and high energy consumption in iron and steel industry, the characteristics of dust in evaporative cooler of converter were analyzed, and the mechanism of humidification agglomeration of particulate matter and collecting of particulate matter by droplets in the complex three-phase flow field containing high temperature flue gas and atomized liquid droplets was discussed.The results show that after spraying, the particle size of the ash hopper is significantly larger than that of the evaporative cooler inlet, and the particle size above 28μm is increased from 50.91% to 68.27%. The particle size of the flue gas in the evaporative cooler outlet is shifted to a small scale, and the particle size below 10μm is increased from 22.46% to 59.93%. In the ash hopper, there are in total three kinds of agglomeration forms: small particles stick on a larger particle; multiple small particles tightly agglomerated together to form a chain or cluster structure and one or more layers of small particles coat on a larger particle.
