Transient Motion Analysis of a Piezoelectric Motor Based on Resonant-type Impact Drive Mechanism

Resonant-type piezoelectric impact motors (PIMs) use their inherent vibration modes to synthesize periodic saw-tooth wave vibrations, which makes up for the low power output defect of traditional PIMs working in the quasi-static state. In the experiments of prototype motors, their transient motions in the resonant state are affected by many factors, which make unstable influence on the analysis of the performances. In this paper, a novel PIM based on resonant-type impact driving mechanism is proposed. By fitting the transient motion curves of the prototype motor, the actual parameters of the prototype are extracted. The modified characteristic of the prototype motor appears a good agreement with the theoretical prediction.
