摘要
The asphalt pavements are more and more commonly used in the toll plaza instead of traditional cement pavement, but may generate big rutting depth due to the unique load characteristic, such as canalized traffic, slow vehicle speed and frequent braking, etc. So, the rutting factors of asphalt pavements in the toll plaza were analyzed in terms of traffic load, vehicle speed, base types and thickness. 3D FEM simulations were performed for the asphalt pavements with four types of base layers by applying the time-hardening creep model and equivalent temperature field in Changchun, China. The effects of were then analyzed. The results show that the rutting depth of asphalt pavement in toll plaza obviously increases under the combined action of slow vehicle speed, additional horizontal load and heavy load. With a fixed thickness (360mm) of base layers, the asphalt pavement rutting depth of flexible base is biggest, successively followed by the combined base, rigid base and semi-rigid base. The asphalt pavement rutting depths remain stable when the thickness of rigid base layer is bigger than 300mm, and the thickness of semi-rigid base layer is bigger than 360mm. Moreover, the rutting depth of asphalt pavements with flexible base or combined base is bigger than semi-rigid and rigid base when the base layer thickness ranges from 180mm to 360mm, but smaller when the base layers thickness is bigger than 420mm.
