摘要
In this study, we explore the equilibrium for the morning commute traffic in a many-to-one network with a common parking area. The morning commute equilibrium problem of departure time choices in a many-to-one network is formulated and analyzed. The common parking area and its common parking disutility are shared by travelers from multiple corridors, each of which is represented by a single bottleneck link. It is found that the common parking disutility connects choice behavior and traffic flow patterns on all corridors so that the problem and its resulting patterns are significantly different from those of the traditional morning commute problems with only a single bottleneck link. The two-corridor case is analyzed in detail with respect to system performance. Seemingly counter-intuitively, it is found that increasing demand on one corridor may decrease the total vehicular travel time on the other corridor in the equilibrium solution, which is due to the coupling at the common parking area. Numerical examples of general cases with multiple corridors will be provided and solved.
