In order to improve the discrimination mothed of the traditional urban road operation state, firstly, which proposed the urban road operation state evaluation method of comprehensive weight and matter-element extension model based on the analysis of domestic and international traffic operation state evaluation methods The method takes the average vehicle speed, the delay time ratio and the saturation as the discriminating index. The matter-element extension model is composited with classical domain matter element, node matter element, object to be evaluated and correlation number is constructed, so qualitative analysis is carried out by using the extension of matter element. Secondly, the comprehensive weights of each index are determined by the triangular fuzzy number method and the entropy weight method, which can obtain the weighted relevance values of the evaluation grades of each road section, so the urban traffic operation status can be quantitatively evaluated.Finally, taking the measured data of the section between Chang'an Middle Road and Yanta North Road in the east section of South Second Ring Road of Xi'an as an example, the method is compared with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to verify that the method can reflect the relationship between each index and each level, and can convert the incompatibility between the indicators into compatibility problems and can show the closeness of each correlation value and interference evaluation interval. Therefore, the method can accurately and effectively reflect the operating conditions of the roads in various time periods.
