Performance Study of Long-rod Washer Gun by Using Spectroscopic Diagnostic

A new long-rod washer gun is developed to generate high density plasma with the capacity of inducing high electron current as the replacement of electrode biasing system on J-TEXT tokamak. To study its performance, a high-speed full-band fiber optic spectrometer is used to measure the spectra from the hydrogen plasma. It’s found that the plasma from the washer gun falls in the collisional-radiative regime, which lead to the possibility of deducing the electron density and temperature via the relative ratios of the Balmer lines. The experimental results show that the electron density is ~1019 m-3 and the electron temperature is several eV at the outside of the nozzle, and they both increase with discharging current. Furthermore, the higher fueling rate would reduce the electron temperature with weak impact on the electron density.
