In order to investigate the effect of different particle size modified gangue addition on soil carbon pool management index, the present study was carried out in a pot experiment. The results showed that: (1) compared with the control treatment, the addition of modified coal gangue with different particle sizes significantly reduced the soil conductivity, significantly increased the pH, significantly increased the total nitrogen, and the soil effective phosphorus, quick-acting potassium, and total phosphorus changed accordingly with the changes in the particle size of the coal gangue. (2) Compared with the control treatment, different particle size modified gangue additions all significantly increased the soil carbon pool index, all significantly reduced the soil carbon pool activity and carbon pool activity index, compared with the control treatment, in addition to the J2 and J3 treatments significantly reduced the soil carbon pool management index, the other are significantly increased. In summary, the addition of modified gangue with different particle sizes resulted in a significant increase in soil fertility and a decrease in carbon pool activity, which is conducive to improving the stability of soil organic carbon pools.
