The increasing land use change in Huai River Basin (HRB) at present really jeopardize the great ecological potential of the basin fragile ecosystem. The riverine fragile natural ecosystem and ecohydrological conditions of the basin have been severely modified by land use change. To explore the current status of ecosystem services in HRB, adopted combined scientific methods including InVEST model, CA-Markov models and IDRISI software enhanced study analysis. Through them, spatio-temporal evolution of selected ecosystem services of the basin was revealed. Water yield, soil conservation, carbon storage and Net Primary Productivity (NPP) were evaluated. Results show that HRB had great interannual variation with irregular annual spatial distribution on water yield and soil conservation. NPP in HRB presented increasing trend with uneven distribution. Carbon sequestration declined yearly but it was evenly distributed in the basin. Besides, trade-off and interaction characteristics between ecosystem services in the basin are identified. Prediction of ecosystem services under different scenarios is highlighted.
