The dynamics of shock wave-bubble interaction and the nonlinear evolution mechanism of subsequent ablative instability when multiple defects exist in the capsule

It is believed that isolated defects within the capsule (e.g., void, high-density inclusion) can be one of the essential factors for implosion performance degradation by seeding hydrodynamic instabilities in implosions. Especially when more than one defect exists in the capsule, the interaction mechanism between the shock wave and the defect, as well as between the deformed defect and the ablated front, remains unclear. In this paper, the interaction between shock waves and multiple defects in the shell is systematically studied. The effect of vortex-interaction on the flow field morphology is investigated. The physical process of vortex pairs overcomeing ablative stabilization is analyzed. A systematic study of localized perturbation growth as a function of defect placement is presented.
