Explosive Implosion Magnetic Flux Generator and its Application in High Pressure Physics

The Explosive Implosion Magnetic Flux Generator (EIMFG) could realize kilotesla magnetic field and subsequent an ideal tool of isentropic compression on material especially low densities materials like hydrogen and its isotope as well. The Institute of Fluid Physics, Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics (IFP, CAEP) has developed EIMFG technologies in recent years and CJ series EIMFG device have been built up and over 900T of axial magnetic field were already obtained by Faraday optical method.

 Experiments show that CJ series device have excellent dynamic performance during isentropic compression process and subsequent could be wide use in high pressure physics. Over 400 GPa of isentropic compression on LiH was realized by using CJ-100 and data of equation of state were obtained. Simulations show over 500GPa of ultrahigh pressure in liquid deuterium material was possible by CJ-150. Effort has also been done to develop in situ electrical and optical methods to diagnose phase transition of material compressed by EIMFG device. Primary experiments show that transient electrical resistance and reflectivity measurement on material loaded by EIMFG device were possible. An ultrahigh isentropic pressure experiment platform for hydrogen and its related material was building up in IFP, CAEP and material high pressure character measurement and phase transition diagnosis were included.
