To enable effective control between the isolated primary and secondary sides in an inductive wireless power transfer (IWPT) system, reliable real-time communication is both essential and unavoidable. This article proposes a simultaneous wireless power and data transfer (SWPDT) system that adopts the frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique and binary differential phase-shift keying (2DPSK) modulation. The system employs two carrier signals with different frequencies to enable the simultaneous transfer of power and data through a single pair of coils. The large frequency gap between the power signal and data signal results in negligible interference. 2DPSK is used for the first time in an SWPDT system, with stronger noise immunity and a simpler demodulation scheme. To confirm the theoretical analysis, the proposed SWPDT system was simulated at a 1 kW power level. Notably, the data transfer rate can reach up to 500 kbps, and all data bits can be exactly recovered on the secondary side. Meanwhile, the power transfer efficiency is as high as 95.5%.
