Coping with climate change is an important task and strategic measure to achieve carbon neutrality and promote the revolution of energy consumption. In this process, green technology innovation plays an important role in protecting the ecological environment.Can the green innovation of enterprises be driven by improving policies to address climate change, so as to give full play to the supporting role of scientific and technological innovation in energy transformation?In this study, the panel data of Shanghai and Shenzhen listed enterprises from 2010 to 2020 were used to explore the driving effect of climate governance tools on corporate green innovation by using a multi-period differential model.The results show that: (1) climate change policies can significantly drive enterprises' green innovation.(2) Through further screening, it is found that the driving effects of different factors are different in size by promoting the setting of legislation and policy standards, strengthening the construction of carbon market, and strengthening the investment of enterprises in scientific and technological innovation. Among them, the mechanism effect of carbon trading market is the most significant, followed by the setting of government policy standards.The mechanism effect of R&D investment is small.(3) Heterogeneity analysis shows that the driving effects of climate change policies on corporate green innovation are different due to differences in spatial location, firm size, property rights and other characteristics;For industries with high technology investment and large scale enterprises, the driving effect of climate change policies on corporate green innovation is more significant.The study highlights the importance of strengthening climate change policies to promote green innovation and achieve carbon neutrality.
