Commonly used models are essential for smart water platform or systems. In this work we proposes a powerful one-dimensional hydrodynamic model which is suitable for both subcritical and supercritical water flow in river networks. This model is based on finite volume method (FVM) and explicitly solve the Saint-Venant equations. A novel conservative and iterative method is applied to explicitly solve the nodes at river junctions, so that the different branches of a junction can be solve separately. This method can not only reduce the difficulty of river network solution, but also adapt to different water flow conditions. Cases of subcritical and supercritical water flow are used to test the capability of this model. These cases cover a experimental flume, a plain river and a mountain river. Results show that the model perform well in different cases, and the continuity of water flow at junctions are well kept. Results proved the application potential of this model for smart water platform or systems.
