Landslide-generated impulse waves in the area near the dam of river-type reservoirs will endanger the stability of the dam and the safety of the dam structure and even pose a huge threat to the safety of downstream residents' property. It is very important to explore the characteristics of Landslide-generated impulse waves in the reservoir area near the dam in time for the safety assessment of the dam. Experts and scholars at home and abroad focus on the study of wave-making of block or granular landslides. In the actual landslide, in the process of landslide, the landslide body will be broken, resulting in different sizes of the landslide body, so the wave characteristics will be different. This paper uses the three-dimensional physical model test to reproduce the wave-making process of the scattered block combination landslide and explores the wave characteristics under the impact of the landslide. The results show that the wave's amplitude decays along the way, and when they reach the dam, they are blocked by the dam and rise instantaneously. The amplitude of the first wave in front of the dam gradually decreases from both sides of the dam to the middle. The hydrostatic depth, landslide volume, width-to-thickness ratio of the landslide body, and inclination angle of the landslide body are the key control factors of the first wave amplitude in front of the dam, and the prediction method of initial wave amplitude is given. It can provide theoretical guidance and technical support for landslide surge risk assessment and dam safety assessment.
