Science reveals the dynamics of the spatial and temporal distribution of the ecological footprint of water resources and ecological carrying capacity.and provides scientific basis for the ecological protection and high-quality development of Ordos City.Based on the socio-economic and hydrological data of nine banners (districts) of Ordos City from 2011 to 2021.The water ecological footprint model is used to analyze the water ecological footprint, ecological carrying capacity and ecological footprint of ten thousand GDP,and revealing its time-series change characteristics.Three typical years of abundance, flatness and blight were selected to explore their spatial variation characteristics. The study shows that the inter-annual changes in the ecological footprint of water resources, ecological carrying capacity and ecological deficits of the flagship areas of Ordos City from 2011 to 2021 are relatively smooth, while the ecological footprint of ten thousand yuan of GDP shows a decreasing trend from year to year. The ecological footprint of water resources, ecological carrying capacity, ecological deficit and ecological footprint of ten thousand yuan GDP of Hangjin and Uttarakhand Banners were the highest among all the banners, and the smallest in Dongsheng and Kangbashi Districts. It is recommended that Hangjin Banner and Urumqi Banner improve their water use efficiency, establish a sound mechanism for the formation of agricultural water prices, avoid overconsumption of water resources, strengthen water environment management, and guarantee the sustainable use of water resources.
