The extensive length and dispersed nature of construction sites in long-distance water transmission projects present significant challenges for effective project supervision. Implementing a smart monitoring system is vital for managing these projects and for rapid response to emergencies. This study uses the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf region as a case study to investigate the application of smart monitoring systems in long-distance water transmission projects. We propose a set of smart monitoring solutions tailored for such projects, offering a new paradigm for addressing engineering supervision challenges in similar contexts. The findings hold practical relevance for advancing the field of project management in water resources development.
