In this paper, based on digital image processing technology, the recognition of damage contours and geometric characterisation of non-destructive testing images of composite laminates are carried out. Firstly, the low-speed impact damage was introduced to the test piece by the low-speed drop hammer test method, and the damage image inside the test piece was obtained by ultrasonic C-scan, and then the digital image processing technology was used to achieve the filtering and noise reduction of the non-destructive image, threshold segmentation, internal filling and damage boundary extraction opera-tions. Further based on the principle of geometric morphology, the irregular damage contour was fitted into an equivalent ellipse, and the geometric parameter information was obtained. This paper provides an accurate and fast method for identifying and analyzing composite impact damage.
