摘要
Atmospheric rivers are narrow, elongated corridors of intense moisture transport that form crucial links between synoptic and subseasonal scales. This presentation will delve into the dynamics of cross-basin atmospheric rivers, highlighting their role in facilitating long-distance moisture transport from the Indian Ocean to the Western North Pacific. We will examine how these atmospheric features contribute to the clustering of extreme weather events across South Asia, East Asia, and even to the western coast of the United States. Additionally, we will explore the future of Atmospheric Rivers over these basins, discussing anticipated changes, challenges and opportunities in their associated extremes and their potential impacts on regional climate patterns. Our study underscores the importance of understanding these systems for improving weather and subseasonal-to-seasonal predictions.
