A CCS-MPC Strategy with Mid-Point Voltage Regulation for PMSMs Fed by NPC-3L Inverters

This paper presents a continuous control set model predictive control (CCS-MPC) with mid-point voltage regulation for the three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) fed by neutral-point-clamped three-level (NPC-3L) inverters. The proposed CCS-MPC strategy comprises two key components: the outer-loop CCS-MPC and the inner-loop mid-point voltage regulation. In the outer loop, the voltage vector application times are determined through sector selection and optimization, ensuring precise control over the stator current performance. The inner loop is responsible for regulating the mid-point voltage deviation by adjusting the activation times of small voltage vectors, thereby improving the stability of the system. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy, experiments are conducted using a three-phase PMSM powered by three-phase NPC-3L inverters.
