Feline calicivirus disease (FCVD) is a disease caused by feline calicivirus (FCV) with upper respiratory tract infection as the main symptom, and it mainly causes symptoms such as oral ulcers and respiratory tracheitis in felines. FCV can induce severe disease in domestic cats and large wild felines such as tigers and lions. FCV causes epidemics worldwide, and FCV-infected cats continuously shed the virus for months or years. Currently, the primary measure for FCV prevention is vaccination. However, the FCV vaccine used in China still relies on imports and cannot meet the huge demand of the pet market, so it is urgent to develop a self-made FCV vaccine in China. Nano-lipid particles (LNP) encapsulated mRNA vaccines exhibit potent immunogenicity, capable of inducing specific antibody and cellular immune responses, offering new hope for the development of FCV vaccine.
