There is a Chinese proverb: "Food is of primary importance to the people". Milk, as one of the most common animal products, is a protein-rich drink that we consume every day. The health of the dairy cattle plays a crucial role in the quality of the milk. As a result, Dairy-cow-mastitis has become a disease that has attracted our attention.
Dairy-cow-mastitis is a common and frequent disease in dairy cows caused by a variety of etiologies, mainly caused by bacteria. At present, antibiotics are the first choice for the treatment of Dairy-cow-mastitis, but because of the increase in bacterial resistance due to non-standard use, the treatment effect is reduced. With the increasing demand for green antibiotic-free milk, reducing the use of antibiotics is a hot topic of research, and it is also an initiative issued by the United Nations and One Health from the perspective of animal diseases and human health.
Due to the characteristics of low toxicity, low residue, definite efficacy and the difficulty of bacteria to develop drug resistance, the clinical application and mechanism of action of traditional Chinese veterinary drugs have gradually increased. At present, there are still few commercial veterinary drug products for the treatment of dairy cow mastitis, and the dosage form is relatively simple, and the efficacy needs to be further improved. Therefore, the study of traditional Chinese veterinary drugs will provide new ideas for reducing the use of antibiotics.
