Currently, mosquito-borne diseases cause hundreds of millions of severe human diseases annually. However, the large-scale use of insecticides not only poses a threat to the local ecosystem but also promotes the selection and expansion of drug-resistant mosquitoes. Inspired by the team of Cheng Gong, we aim to identify some highly resilient bacteria that can modify the intestinal environment of mosquitoes to prevent viral infection, thereby reducing the transmission rate of mosquito-borne diseases. Moreover, such bacteria can be vertically transmitted by female mosquitoes to achieve long-term control effects.
