A Novel Fault Tree Analysis Method Based on Interval Type-2 T–S Fuzzy Model

This paper presents a fuzzy fault tree analysis (FFTA) method based on interval type-2 (IT2) T–S fuzzy model to realize the reliability analysis (RA). To improve the ability of dealing with uncertainties, IT2 T–S fuzzy gate is used to establish the fuzzy fault tree, which no longer needs the exact membership function. In the process of establishing T–S fuzzy rules, a novel weighted distance determination method is proposed to evaluate the occurrence probability of top events automatically. Particularly, experts only need evaluate the high and low failure rate of bottom events instead of exact value. In addition, the existing aggregation approach of expert views is not suitable to IT2 T–S FFTA, so this paper proposes a new aggregation method. Finally the proposed IT2 T–S FFTA is applied in an electro-optical tracking system (EOTS) and the failure rate of EOTS is obtained.
