Research on IGBT Failure in Wind Power System Converters

This study systematically investigates the high failure rate issue of IGBTs in wind power system converters, thoroughly analyzing their typical failure modes and prediction methods. Research findings indicate that IGBT failures primarily result from electrical overload, structural thermal stress, material aging, and multi-stress environmental coupling. For failure prediction, four distinct methodologies are proposed and comparatively evaluated. Finally, reliability enhancement strategies are presented. This research provides both theoretical foundations and technical approaches for improving the reliability of wind power systems and advancing intelligent operation and maintenance practices.
