A Fault Ride-Through Strategy under Asymmetrical Grid Faults for Grid-Forming Converters Considering the Power Angle Deviation

摘要
In the practical grid-connected operation of grid-forming converters, to adapt to the reduction of positive-sequence voltage components and the increase of negative-sequence voltage components caused by asymmetrical grid faults, a novel fault ride-through strategy is proposed in this paper. The proposed strategy deploys a second-order generalized integrator to extract the positive and negative sequence components precisely. It also deploys a negative-sequence current control loop to suppress negative-sequence components of the output current. Furthermore, the proposed strategy incorporates improvements in the power control loop, aiming to achieve power angle deviation suppression, inrush current suppression, and fast positive-sequence voltage support during asymmetrical grid faults. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated through an experimental platform under different converter output conditions.
