Mapping irrigated area correctly in time is important for land resource using management. With the use of remote sensing techniques, mapping of irrigated area has undergone a rapid development. Among all the methods used, the supervised methods receive the most attention. Instead of a labor-intensive method for obtaining ground reference data, a new method attempting to supervise MODIS image by Google Earth is considered. The method is applied in both Kaidu and Kongque river basin and all the remote sensing data is free while a satisfying result is obtained. Data of 2012 is used for training while data of 2000-2010 is used for mapping and the trend of irrigated area variation is analyzed.
