Modern Radars use phased array antennas, which find their application in broadcasting, missile guidance, beam-forming, radars. This paper reviews the principle of adaptive arrays in radars in which the antenna patterns (forming a beam in the desired direction and placing null in the direction of Jammer ) are controlled adaptively by using adaptive algorithms. These algorithms sense the distribution of the external noise and adjust the weight parameter such that the SINR (Signal to interference noise ratio) and detection performance are optimized. Simulation results demonstrate the recovery of the desired signal in a noisy environment which comprises of Jammers as well.
