Periodic broadcasting is the most efficient strategy to distribute popular video streams. In the past decade, many periodic broadcasting schemes were presented to reduce client’s buffer usage and client’s waiting time. After that, people focused on the problem of heterogenous recieving. A recently proposed broadcasting scheme named Delay Recieving (DeRe) solves this problem by ensuring low waiting time and low buffer usage for different users. However, all of the previously proposed broadcasting schemes do not provide useful interactive functions for video watching such as playback, forward search, backward search. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first paper which discusses the interative functions for broadcasting scheme. In this paper, we propose a novel broadcasting scheme called Ahead of Recieving (AOR), which not only largely enhances users’ bandwidth usage by at least 30%, but also provide useful interactive functions for video watching, which is impossible for traditional broadcasting schemes.
