During Chinese "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the investment in power grid continues to expand. By 2020, a strong smart grid will be built up, and the goal of building a world-class power grid will come true. Monitoring the state of transmission channels could guarantee power grid’s stable running. In order to realize intelligent management of power grid, it is necessary to improve the processing, analysis and application ability of the monitoring data. In this paper, based on the big data technology, a big data platform is proposed, which can be used to monitor the transmission lines’ state. Lightning is the typical monitoring variable. The mapping operation between lightning position and the pole’s position according to the nearest distance principle needs great computation. Therefore, a MapReduce method is proposed to fulfill this key calculation. In the real data experiment, MapReduce has a significant improvement compared with the traditional method.
