Pervasive Health technologies have reached a level of maturity allows for solutions to be deployed in real-life clinical contexts. Such technologies have transited during the previous years from labs to clinical settings, from early prototypic developments to consolidated, certified applications, from involvement of friendly users in controlled settings to real patients in a clinical practice.  Even if there have been solid steps into the direction of bringing such solutions to market, there are still many challenges to deal with before we see a full integration of pervasive health technologies as part of mainstream Healthcare in a broad sense. Such challenges involve dealing with ‘new’ aspects such as integration into the clinical practice, regulatory aspects of pervasive health, role of Pervasive Health on prevention and insurance, management of security, privacy and ethics, etc. This workshop will involve clinical professionals and ICT researchers to discuss the challenges and opportunities that new pervasive health-enabled telemedicine solutions are facing today and how these could be addressed to maximize their adoption.

The overall topic of the workshop is the crossroads between future Telemedicine solutions and Pervasive Health Research. The topic is of particular interest at this point of time, given the maturity level that Pervasive Health technologies are reaching and the opportunities to implement these solutions in Telemedicine scenarios in actual clinical practices.  In fact, nowadays, it is common to see Pervasive Health startups providing telemedicine applications to the market (e.g. using mHealth, wearable sensors, etc.). However, these new applications are still facing many challenges related to various issues, such as interoperability, certification, technology readiness, users acceptance, etc., which limits their wider adoption.

This workshop intends to be a forum for clinical professionals and ICT researchers to discuss what the main challenges are for the design of new telemedicine solutions and how these should be address to maximize their adoption.
