To implement the President Xi Jinping's speech on the development of China's robotic industry at the conference attended by academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pursue the strategy of promoting development through innovation vigorously, and bring about the development of China's robotic technology and industry by leaps and bounds, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MIIT), and China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) jointly held the World Robot Conference for two years, in 2015 and in 2016 respectively, with the permission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. The World Robot Conference has already become the prestigious international conference in China's robotic industry and circles to have the largest scale, apply the highest standards, and attract the widest range of international elements around the world. The conference brings together not only the best minds of the world experts but also its top enterprises, with a view to showing off the latest advances in robotic technology. As a result, it plays a vital role in guiding efforts in China's robotic industry and circles to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship. Many senior officials of the Central Committee of the Party and of the State Council have shown great support and offered helpful guidance to the conference since its inception. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulation letter to the conference while Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council issued written instructions and Vice Premier Liu Yandong of the State Council attended the opening ceremony and other relevant events. 
Building on the success of the previous two years, the World Robot Conference 2017 (WRC 2017) is scheduled to be held in Beijing from August 23rd to 27th, 2017. Revolving around the world's major areas of robotic research and application, and innovation and development in an intelligent society, the WRC 2017 will offer a venue where academic thoughts can be exchanged at high levels and the latest achievements demonstrated, build a platform which helps promote international collaboration and innovation, bring both Chinese experts and their overseas counterparts together so that they could discuss the trends in the development of robotics and in robotic innovation, clearly point out in which direction the Chinese robotic industry will develop, figure out the profound impact of the much-anticipated robotics revolution on future social development, and provide the basis for China's efforts to draw up a strategy for developing its robotic industry and to transform its manufacturing industries. In summary, the conference will elevate the international influence of China's robotic industry.
