The National Power Electronics Conference (NPEC) provides a platform for exchange of ideas, information and expertise amongst the power electronics community of India. It provides a) the power electronics exposition, b) tutorials, c) presentations of peer reviewed papers and invited articles, and d) a venue to share, network and to address the nationwide needs of the sector, with fellow professionals and researchers. First NPEC was held at IIT Bombay in 2003. Subsequently it was held at IIT Kharagpur in December, 2005, at IISc Bangalore in December 2007, at IIT Roorkee in June 2010, at IIEST, Shibpur in 2011, at IIT Kanpur in 2013, and at IIT Bombay again in 2115. The Eighth National Power Electronics Conference 2015 (NPEC 2017) will be held at College of Engineering, Pune from December 18 to December 20, 2017.
The world is experiencing impact of power electronics applications in the areas of industrial, residential, commercial, transportation, aerospace, military and electric utility systems. Power electronics will have increasing impact in industrial automation, high efficiency energy systems, energy conservation, renewable energy systems, and electric/hybrid vehicles in years to come. The conference will provide a platform to discuss and present development/ research work focusing the importance of power electronics in energy efficiency improvement, renewable energy systems, electric/hybrid vehicles, lighting and heating, medical and military applications, and energy storage.
In view of this, five different tracks are planned namely, (1) Power Devices, Components and Power Converters (2) Motor Drives and Inverters (3) Power Electronics for utility interface and Renewable Energy (4) Electric Mobility and (5) Special Applications. Apart from the usual activities that are being carried out in a conference, special emphasis will be paid to showcase the research activities as well the developmental activities that are being carried out in the academic Institutes of the Country, and Industries which are operating from India.
In addition to the paper sessions, several tutorials on design of power electronic systems will be delivered by professionals and academicians, at the conference.
The papers are invited on, but not limited to the following topics:
Power Devices, Components and Power Converters
Power Devices, Components and Magnetic Materials.
