After Bremen (2014), Lecco (2015) and Athens (2016), we are pleased to announce the EuroVR 2017 conference, a series started thanks to the INTUITION Network of Excellence in Virtual and Augmented Reality supported by European Commission from 2004 to 2008, then imbedded within the Joint Virtual Reality Conferences (JVRC) from 2009 to 2013.
The focus the EuroVR conferences is to present each year novel Virtual Reality (VR) up-to Mixed Reality (MR) technologies, including software systems, display technology, interaction devices, and applications. The annual event of the EuroVR association (https://www.eurovr-association.org/) is not only a conference for presenting and publishing applied researches, but also a platform for exchange between researchers, technology providers, and end users around commercial or research applications. Besides papers on novel results, industry-oriented presentations (automotive, medical, etc.), the EuroVR conferences create a unique opportunity for the participants to see, discuss, and share the latest innovations. As the previous years, we will welcome industrial and academic exhibitors, as well as sponsors, all within a same exhibition area to facilitate many cross fertilization within all our community.
EuroVR 2017 will take place at the Laval Virtual Center, the new building of the Laval Virtual organization, within the French city internationally renowned for its annual exhibition on Virtual and Augmented technologies, but also for its industrial park of SMEs which act within VR and MR technological field. This venue should be ideal for industries and SMEs, from end users up-to-providers of VR and MR technologies, to understand better the EuroVR association spirit and its activities. A part parallel sessions between Scientific vs. Industrial tracks, and the General Assembly of our association, another important moment of this annual conference will be special sessions related to European initiatives in progress under the umbrella of EuroVR.
Last but not the least, to increase the excellence of this applied research conference which is basically oriented toward new usages, we have built for EuroVR 2017 a set of committees including a nice International Program Committee, that we hope all potential authors will be proud to submit their best recent applied researches and/or new products in VR & MR. Our major priority is to provide authors the opportunity to spread with an excellence label their innovative works within the wide community of end-users, from large industry up to SMEs. As a consequence, Scientific/Technical conference proceedings will be published in a special issue of the Lecture Notes In Computer Science (LNCS) series edited by Springer, and some of the best papers will be selected to be invited to submit an extended version to the open access journal Frontiers in Virtual Environments.
