Economic development, population growth and high quality food requirement have resulted in the growth of the livestock industry. In most developing and developed countries, this industry generates a large amount of wastewater and wastes, which becomes one of the largest agricultural pollution sources and a major source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In some areas, veterinary drugs are extensively used to the livestock; this has been considered as a main source responsible for the development of antibiotic resistances in the environment. This situation brings about a challenge for the sustainable management of animal manure and wastewater.
To date, governments and scholars around the world are extremely concerned about environmental and ecological problems caused by livestock and poultry breeding. Great efforts have been made worldwide to develop innovative technologies and practices for managing livestock manure and wastewater. This has prompted the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to organize the 3rd International Conference on Recent Advances inPollution Control and Resource Recovery for the Livestock Industry (LivestockWaste 2018). Livestock Waste 2018 will provide an opportunity for researchers and industry stakeholders to gather together, share their experiences on R&D, and seek solutions for the environmental issues associated with the management of animal manure.
The topics covered in RAPCP2018 conference willinclude (but will not be limited to):
Policiesand regulations on livestock waste management
Environmentalbehavior and impacts of veterinary medicines
Pollution preventionand control technologies
Resourcerecovery technologies and practices
Greenhouse gas emission and mitigation
