The main aim of ICSEM 2018 is the creation of the international forum of scientists for the presentation of the newest achievements and investigation results in vacuum and plasma techniques, synthesis, characterisation and application of smart engineering materials, its derivatives and other wide bandgap materials. Over time, the scope of the conference has expanded to include nanomaterials, biomaterials and new functional materials, in the range of production, design and optimisation of the synthesis and modification technologies, as well as discussion of current achievements in the field of cooperation between the scientific units and industry from different countries of the world.
Smart Materials are designed materials which possess one or more properties which can be significantly changed in controlled fashion by externally applied field such as stress, temperature, electric and magnetic fields. Worldwide, considerable effort is deployed to develop smart materials and structures. Smart Materials like, piezoelectric materials, electrostrictive materials, manetostrictive materials, shape memory materials, smart fluids, smart hydrogels, electrochromic materials, phase change materials, nanomaterials, ceramics, smart textiles build the global market and are increasing business turnover to provide the smarter service to create smart world. The conference aims to disseminate state-of-the-art in smart materials and derivatives of smart material systems- processing, characterization and applications.
