We are pleased to present the 7th Spanish Conference of Input-Output Analysis to be held at the Autonomous University of Yucatán, in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, the birthplace of the great Mayan culture that until today shines thanks to its descendants that inhabit the region And develop productive activities that require an okol (input or input) as well as a Jóok’ol (outlet or product), depending on the Mayan language. At first these towns exchanged the processed products and others were transported to other markets thanks to the white roads (sak béoob). With the arrival of the Spaniards there were changes in those societies but this did not prevent that the commercial flows subsisted.

Nowadays, productive activities continue to be carried out involving inputs and products. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out days that deal with the subject. In this sense, the sessions of input-output analysis were developed only within Spanish territory, namely Oviedo (2005), Zaragoza (2007), Albacete (2009), Madrid (2011), Seville (2013) and Barcelona (2015). Now, in a special way, we say that the Journey leaves the mother country to be realized in Mexican territory, specifically Yucatán.
Therefore, the state of Yucatán in Mexico, through the host house, the Autonomous University of Yucatán, has the honour to open its doors to welcome our distinguished colleagues from different parts of the world. In the days of the conference we will share the advances, as well as the results of research work related to the input-output instrument. In addition, workshops will be held to share expert knowledge on specific topics. The event will be held in the centre of the city of Mérida, where colonial buildings brighten the view of those who visit. Likewise, music, dance and regional food will be within reach with just walking a few steps from the University.

In order to be able to carry out this conference, we have the financial and logistical support of several prestigious institutions in Mexico, such as the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Northern Border College (COLEF) and the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), among others. In addition, the collaboration and assistance of all participants will make the day successfully, and that the event is not only one more day but an additional experience to the subject of the product input.
