Demands of 5G and IoT have led to growing adoption of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN). This has revolutionized both the network control and data planes. At the same time maturity of cloud platforms is driving their deployments closer to the edge and more ubiquitously available, making offloading network functionality to cloud platforms feasible. This increased flexibility is encouraging researchers to explore novel paradigms for implementation and placement of network functions. This workshop aims to bring together researchers working to innovative integration of cloud resources and network components to solve complex problems and foster exchange of ideas in space of cloud-assisted networking.
Topics of interest include the following (but not limited to):
Cloud-assisted network services e.g. filtering, routing and load balancing
Cloud-assisted mobile computing
Cloud-assisted network security
Economics of cloud-assisted networking
Edge-as-a-Service
Network resilience using cloud resources
Inter- and Intra-domain network optimizations
Mobile data management with cloud support
Federated designs for NFV and SDN
Cloud supported network measurement and monitoring
Caching with and within cloud platforms
Security of cloud-assisted network services
Cloud managed spectrum sharing
