The 2018 Angiotensin GRC main theme will focus on "The RAAS: Emerging interactions with the microbiome, immune and nervous system".
While maintaining a solid basic science approach we are placing particular emphasis on the clinical applications that have resulted from research innovations on the RAAS. New advances on the immune system, microbiome, cell regeneration and aldosterone related to cardiovascular and renal diseases will be addressed. Other sessions will focus on the regulation of prorenin (a potential therapeutic target) and the role of the central nervous system in regulation of RAAS.
We plan to have 12 slots for oral presentations from abstracts. At least 6 will be from young investigators. These presentations will be equally distributed within the 9 sessions to promote integration instead of being separated at the end of a given session. We will also have 4 poster sessions. Our program will also push beyond the barriers of our current understanding of the RAAS by inviting speakers who have not previously attended the Angiotensin GRC. Some of these speakers come from other fields to stimulate creativity and potential application of new discoveries from other scientific fields to the RAAS area.
Following the tradition of GRC, preliminary results not only from Basic Research Studies, but also from Clinical Studies and Trials will be presented. And finally this is a main goal of the GRC to flourish interactions between trainees and senior scientists not only through formal presentations but also informal daily communications during and thereafter our conference.
