On behalf of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Department (I&CPS), I would like to welcome you to the 49th Annual 2013 I&CPS Technical Conference being held in beautiful Stone Mountain Park at the Marriot Evergreen Conference Resort, Stone Mountain, Georgia.
We have attempted to make this inaugural venture following in the footsteps of the Rural Electric Power Conference (REPC) at the same venue a big success. As you can see from the schedules, the days for our normal meeting times and paper sessions have changed to accommodate our conference beginning as the REPC is winding down, allowing for some overlap time and opportunities for networking.
On Tuesday, the REPC Vendor Expo is expected to extend into the evening to allow I&CPS attendees exposure to the suppliers and service companies at the REPC. The REPC attendees are invited to stay on as well and attend the committee meetings on Wednesday. After the committee meetings on Wednesday, there is at least one hospitality room planned with the potential for others on Wednesday Evening. Also on Wednesday, as the guys (mainly) are busy doing committee work the gals (mainly) will take a trip into Atlanta to visit the World of Coca-Cola and the CNN Center as part of the spouse registration, so guys don’t forget to sign them up! The gals will also be having lunch on their own at Daddy D’z BBQ, the only Atlanta restaurant featured on the Food Network!
Thursday will bring us a day full of paper presentations with two concurrent sessions in the morning and two in the afternoon. The evening will be a dinner / dance with entertainment provided by “Yuppie Scum” an Atlanta based band playing almost anything complete with a light show. On Friday, we have two more paper sessions in the morning, the Awards Luncheon and two concurrent tutorials on Wind Power Generation and Cyber Security for Power Systems.
