活动简介
Earth is a bounty for the sustenance of life and the very existence of the human life depends on natural resources and congenial environment on the planet. Shortage of natural resources caused by a changing climate would have negative impacts in the environmental, socio-cultural, political and economic spheres of society. Dwindling of natural resources (i.e water, energy and ecosystem) due to geogenic and anthropogenic sources continues to be one of the critical challenges adversely affecting the natural ecosystems, agriculture, human health and productivity. In the present day world, wood, fossil and nuclear fuels are the major natural resources of energy whose consumption is increasing at an alarming rate. Continuing the use of these fuels is increasing the levels of toxins, residues and trace species in the environment-threatening life on this planet. The development of science and technology is transforming from a mainly descriptive stage to a more quantitative stage. In this transition, qualitative interpretations such as conceptual models are complemented with quantification such as numerical models, fast dynamic geologic models, deterministic and stochastic models. Due to an increase in the complexity of the problems faced by the geoscientists, it is require a common effort to establish new conceptual and numerical models to develop new paradigms. There is a need for understanding the synergy between classical geosciences and mathematics which can provide the methodological tools to tackle the complex problems in modern geosciences. Mathematics plays a key role in the mantle, oceans and atmosphere creating climate, causing natural disasters, and influencing fundamental aspects of life and life-supporting systems and many other processes affecting Planet Earth, both as a fundamental discipline and as an essential component of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research. The aim of IAMG is to promote international support and make use of mathematics in geosciences research and in technology to gather innovative thoughts and information from international reputed scientists, directly and indirectly involved with natural resources and environment. The IAMG Annual Conference creates a forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, experience and techniques through studies, investigation and practical application related to natural resource management. The Conference is intended at scientists, researchers, students, engineers, geostatistical analysts, geospatial specialists, consultants and government officials. The conference will allow the world's environmental, natural resource and mathematical geosciences community to celebrate together by exchanging innovative technologies pertinent to mathematics in the geosciences. The interactions among the multi-disciplinary participants of the Conference will also serve to recognize limitations of existing analysis approaches and help identify future research avenues. Mathematical geosciences have progressed tremendously and must continue to evolve in order to address global issues such as natural resources management, geostatistical and geospatial approaches. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) considers IAMG2014 would be an excellent opportunity for academicians' researchers and scientists from countries all over the world to exchange thoughts, knowledge and experience. At present mathematical geosciences are not so popular in India; the IAMG2014 conference (organizing first time in Indian sub-continent) will provide platform for key specialists in the geological fields to share knowledge with international reputed scientist and preparation of roadmap for the spreading mathematical geosciences in Indian geological community. Sixteenth IAMG conference will be organized by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will be held in New Delhi (India) from October 17-20, 2014.
