The South Carolina Environmental Conference (SCEC) has grown into one of the largest and most significant environmental conferences on the East coast. Last year, over 1,500 environmental professionals from across the state and Southeast converged in Myrtle Beach to share knowledge with fellow professionals. Without question, this conference is the definitive gathering of water and wastewater professionals in South Carolina. Each year, we strive to further develop the conference.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Where Waters Meet.” This theme describes the function of the SCEC in so many ways: Two great associations carrying out our mission to provide a venue where members and colleagues gather for education, networking, and social activities. It also allows the opportunity to be reminded of why we do what we do, and share our pride in serving so many communities in South Carolina and the Southeast by protecting our environment and providing safe drinking water and quality wastewater treatment.
This year we will offer over 142 technical sessions with the opportunity to earn 12 hours of continuing education and a fantastic lineup of speakers, which include: Dr. Paul T. Bowen, PhD, Director of The Coca-Cola Company during the Opening Session, AWWA President-Elect John Donahue during the SCAWWA Awards Luncheon, and WEF President Sandra Ralston during the WEASC Awards Luncheon. This year we will focus on our mission, our mutual motivation to work together for the greater good and our expanding benefits to membership.
