The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Programme Committee would like to invite you to participate in the SPE International Oilfield Corrosion Conference and Exhibition. The format will follow a similar theme to the previous meetings with a combination of formal paper presentations in the morning followed by interactive discussions in the afternoon. The 2014 theme for this seventh annual conference will be “New Challenges for a New Era.” The industry has now had several decades of oil exploration and production. Many facilities have exceeded their original design lives, whilst new projects are being engineered with a 40-year projected life. As operating conditions become more severe and reservoirs are developed in deeper waters, the demands on all materials are ever increasing. Corrosion management therefore faces new challenges on a number of fronts, ranging from keeping assets operating safely to ensuring new projects are able to meet new design lives. This event intends to explore these challenges, from initial material selection to operational corrosion management. It has been designed to allow for ample meeting and networking among all of the attendees. Attendees typically comprise a wide variety of professionals and experts, including representatives from academia, oil companies, and service companies. The morning conference sessions allow for presentation of new projects, technologies, challenges and issues. The afternoon discussion sessions will give attendees the opportunity to debate and review a range of key industry topics. Poster sessions will also take place, including a judging contest with the best poster being awarded the Poster Prize during the wrap-up session. We would particularly like to encourage graduates, postgraduates, and junior industry professionals to get involved. For the first time this year, the event will also include an SPE training course on Corrosion Management and Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion which will take place on Wednesday 14 May.
